BEHIND THE SCENES
This project was created as an assignment for my Documentary Filmmaking class during my senior year of college. In this class, we studied the different modes of documentary, including the observational practice of direct cinema. For this assignment, we were instructed to practice direct cinema by recording an event as it occurred in real-time with as little filmmaker involvement in the event as possible.

I chose to record my project during my team's trip from Connecticut to North Carolina for the Vertcross XC Championships--a meet being hosted by High Point University. My project gives viewers a front row seat to the real personalities of each member of the team and the chemistry that makes us such a good team.

As an extension from the direct cinema assignment, our next assignment was to write and record a voiceover to go with the observational video we had made. I recorded my teammate, Haleemot Adeyanju as she recounted her experience at the meet. This assignment can be viewed below.
